Wow! It's been a long time since I have written anything in my blog :0(

But here is the latest update.

I have just finished creating a new Firefox "persona" featuring one of our newest creations, "Grad Cats." Firefox personas can be used to personalize your Firefox browser. You will find our Grad Cats persona in the "Other" category (it was either that or "Holidays" and although all graduations are special, I didn't know if it would be considered an actual 'holiday').

The actual working title is "Graduation 2010." It was going to be "Grad Cats," but somewhere in the day-long process of figuring out exactly how and where to place the characters and icons so that they would show up properly in the browser, above the web site tabs but below the Google search bar, I ended up having to change the name to keep the automated system from thinking I was uploading a duplicate (I had already deleted the copy that was not working, but try telling that to an automated system!).

The Grad Cats are based on sketches that my daughter, Brittany, does of our two cats, Arthur and ShereKhan. We adopted Arthur and ShereKhan from the Sonoma County Animal Shelter in January of this year. Brittany's sketches capture perfectly the personalities of these two cats when we first brought them home from the shelter: ShereKhan a big, wide-eyed, two-year old baby, who loves everything and everybody and can't get enough attention; and Arthur, an even bigger, cautious four-year-old who stayed under a bed the entire first two days he was home and squinted at us suspiciously any time we came near him (as if to say, "Who are you, and why am I here? This is NOT my house!") for about the first three months after we brought him home. Luckily, with time and the persistence of ShereKhan who was determined that the two of them would be friends, Arthur has come around and is now happily settled in his new home, and he and ShereKhan call to each other and play happily together like brothers.
